Volvo P1800 - Volvo P1800 is an automobile from Volvo. The project was started in 1957 because Volvo wanted a sports car. The man behind the project was an engineering consultant to Volvo, Helmer Petterson, who in the 1940s was responsible for the Volvo PV 444. The design work was done by Helmerīs son Per "Pelle" Petterson, who worked at Pietro Frua at that time. The Italian Carrozzeria Pietro Frua design firm (a subsidiary of Ghia) built the first three prototypes, designated: P958-X1, P958-X2 and P958-X3. The engine was the B18 with dual carburettors with the M40 gearbox. The engine produced 100 hp (75 kW).
The first public pictures were released in 1959. At the time of its launch, it was thought that because of its then-futuristic looks, the P1800 would have a long production life. It did have a long life, although stylistically the finned rear end would date rapidly.
Volvo 740 - Introduced in the U.S. for the 1985 model year, the 740 was a less optioned version of the Volvo 760 model. The 740 was a breath of fresh air for the Swedish auto manufacturer. The 740 was intended to be a midsize car that offered more style, performance, and luxury than the venerable 240 series cars.
In the U.S., the 740 series of vehicles were offered from 1985-1992 as a 4-door sedan (known internally as the 744) and a 5 door wagon (known internally as the 745). In the early 1980's, the Volvo numbering system for automobiles, which had been based on a definition by the vehicles SERIES + CYLINDERS + DOORS, began to break down and was formally abandoned with the introduction of their five-cylinder front wheel drive cars in 1993. However the original system is still used by Volvo enthusiasts and engineers. Production of the 740 ceased in 1992, though the engine, transmission, chassis, and other details lived on in the Volvo 940, which essentially was a re-skinned 740.
Volvo Duett - The Duett was an automobile from Volvo that was in production from 1953 to 1969. The design is based on the Volvo PV sedan and the front is the same, but instead of coil springs on all four corners as with the PV, the rear of the Duett is supported by leaf springs. It also used a ladder frame, while the PV is a unibody design. It was produced in Estate (or Station Wagon) bodies as well as vans.
The chassis were also sold bare in small numbers, minus bodies from the windshield rearward. These bare chassis versions were finished as pickup trucks and convertibles by such Swedish coach builders as Grip, Valbo and Nordbergs.
The model number designations distinguishing this family of Volvos are the 445 or P445, and the P210. The most notable difference that readily determines at a glance "which is which" is quite simple. If it's a PV-like estate with a 2 piece flat paned windshield like PV444, the car is a 445. The P210 introduced in the early 1960s sported the single piece curved windshield like its sister sedan, the PV544.
Volvo B7 - The Volvo B7 is a chassis from the worlds second largest bus manufacturer Volvo Bus. The B7 is available in several different forms the most common of which is the B7L, used as both a single and double decker chassis largely in Europe but has registered sales in places such as China. The B7L is a low floor citybus with a rear vertical mounted engine.
The B7TL is a model built solely for the British and Irish market and is built on a range of bodies as a double decker bus. The bus features a horizontal mounted engine and a shorter rear overhang, as British hostiles seemed hesitant to purchase the B7L double decker with a long rear overhang (although some have since entered service in Glasgow, Scotland as 12m long double deckers).
Volvo B10TL - Volvo Super Olympian, also known as B10TL, is the low-floor replacement of the 3-axle version of Volvo Olympian double decker (its 2-axle version was replaced by Volvo B7TL). There are 492 12m buses and 100 10.6m buses in KMB, and 103 12m buses in NWFB. NWFB bought 103 Super Olympian in 5 batches, all are 12 metres long.
The first batch (5001-5040) were introduced in 1999. Then the second batch (5041-5060), which have their side route number boxes moved to lower position, entered service in 2000/2001. 5060 was the first Super Olympian chassis built in Poland.
The third batch (5061-5079) of NWFB Super Olympian, entered service in 2001, were equipped with the Euro III version of D10A285 engine and ALCOA front wheels. They were followed by the fourth batch (5080-5089) later in the same year, among this batch of buses, 5080-5086 had their registration numbers originated from ex-CMB buses and service cars. The final batch (5090-5103), introduced in 2002, had their rear route number boxes raised to the above of the emergency window.
